This guy is funny. He's keeps asking what time is it, but the answer is disappointing. What it does point to is our ignorance.
Do you feel that the more you learn and experience, the more ignorant you become?
What do you think about this?
An Informal Meeting of People Who Love to Debate and Just Say Hmmmmmm........
"Every hour of every day I'm learning more The more I learn, the less I know about before, the less I know the more I want to look around, digging deeper for higher ground'.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very sweet cheesy lyric from the 80s by the band UB40.
It always struck me as a paradox as a child, but sometimes, I do understand how the older I get the more close minded and stubborn I get. I no longer feel like a sponge, able to absorb anything for my benefit, now its a forced experience of making the serious effort of learning new things.
Im not sure if it was Descartes or Socrates who apparently said something along the lines of I know one thing and that is that I know nothing
I guess to adopt the perception that you are constantly being revealed new things and experience events, situations and the like as a child would, with a sense of wonder and freshness.......
maybe that will help us feel less ignorant as we grow older ? The issue is that new changes keep coming up, from advances in technology to old processes evolving into different things, so we will always be ignorant of the past present and future, we gotta fight it every day, because ignorance is not bliss we can't just lay back and let things evolve without us being part of the growth of...of it all.
Sounds like Descartes, but I'm not certain. It is exhaustingly exhilirating to learn new things. I agree, the more I learn; the more ignorant i become, as I am aware of how much there is that I will never know.
ReplyDeleteUB40? I haven't heard them or thought of that name in years...
Red, red wine....
